DJ WOODY - POORTABLIST 7"

Even though Woody has produced countless 7" scratch records and has hosted the DMC World Championships online Portablist battle since day one, it turns out he's been mispronouncing "portablism" all along, calling the genre "Poor-tablism". But let's face it, if you choose "scratch DJ" as a career path, it's probably a pretty accurate term!

This record changes the predictable format of the traditional skip-proof 7" scratch tool. Each track has 1 scratch sound that repeats every full rotation (making it completely skip-proof), with other samples in the phrase repeating every 2 rotations (allowing more variety). Side A is laid out at 100 BPM and side B at 133 BPM; each side has 6 different tracks and ends with a full scratch sentence.

The record combines freshly dug, unused samples with original vocal recordings from UK rapper MC Mercury of Gunshot and MC BluRum 13 from Washington.

"Poor-tablist" is pressed on gold vinyl with a full-colour sleeve illustrated by Woody himself.
