The Technics SL-1200 MK7 is the latest model of the legendary turntable DJs have used since the 1970s.
The new Technics DJ turntable is a completely new design, first shown in the 1200GR and GAE models, and has basically nothing in common with the SL-1200 Mk2, Mk3 or Mk5. It uses a newly designed coreless direct-drive motor that eliminates irregularities in platter rotation, with every motor part tuned to work smoothly at high torque. The motor is digitally controlled using technology developed for Blu-ray players. Unlike the hi-fi version, the SL-1200 Mk7 can play in reverse (a first for Technics turntables). It also has a detachable power cable and gold-plated RCA terminals with a detachable cable. Platter speed is controlled by a digital pitch with an 8% or 16% range. Speeds: 33/45/78 rpm.
The tonearm is the classic S-shape, made of lightweight, highly rigid aluminium. The two-layer platter is made of high-density rubber and aluminium, and the bottom housing combines aluminium with glass-fibre-reinforced ABS for a solid, vibration-free build. The SL-1200MK7 has an all-black matte top panel with black buttons and tonearm, and a choice of red or blue LED platter illumination.
